First Home Buyers Owners Grant

First Home Owners Grant commenced on 1 July 2000 where the States and Territories agreed to provide financial assistance to first home buyers in Australia.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, the grant consists of a one-off payment of $7,000. The money can be used to assist with fees, stamp duty, insurance, purchase price or other costs associated with the purchase of your first home. The money is only payable at settlement of your chosen property.

Generally speaking, you may qualify for the FHOG if you are;

  • a permanent resident or citizen of Australia
  • you or your partner do not currently own, or have previously owned a property in your name
  •  you are buying the property as your principal place of residence or will reside in the property within the first 12 months of owning the home
